Jesca Hoop Photo Shoot For Filter Magazine
I was Grateful Filter asked me to photograph Jesca for the latest Issue of Filter. In 2004 I did a shoot of Persephone’s Bees, Their manager at the time also managed Jesca, so when I went by her office she gave me an EP of Jesca’s called The Silverscreen Demos. I listened to it all the time and fell in love with the 6 vintagie/gypsy songs…It reminded me of living in San Francisco, walking the foggy Victorian streets, hanging out at Deluxe on Haight Street, Du Nord and wandering Downtown at night. When I got the call to do photographs of her it felt manifested after listening to her songs so much. That’s what makes what i do so exciting, That kind of stuff.
I wanted to make sure to do something special for her! Especially after i got the Latest Album “Hunting My Dress“…It’s AMAZING!! WOW! i was Blown Away and Couldn’t Stop Listening to it. I have a good friend who’s an actor and very funny comedian named Tony Cavalero who invited me over to the beautiful place he lives in Burbank with Actor/Comedian Stuart Bennett. Low and Behold, Horses! A Carriage house and the Beautiful Jesca was the combination i was hoping to find and poof, There it was. I felt so lucky again! It came out so lovely and we had such a fun time doing it! Elise Velasco did the Styling along with her assistant Kessler.
Kelly Walker did the hair..They are such an amazing Team. We had all just worked together on a shoot i did for Awolnation that came out Awesome too, so keeping the creative momentum going between us all, we all seemed to be still so connected creatively…I wish i got to work with them all everyday..;)
